The Bomgar Box

Appliance-based remote support software is more secure than software-as-a-service or point-to-point remote control tools.

The Remote Support Appliance

With the Bomgar Box you’ll keep sensitive data behind your own firewall, under the security measures you already have in place. Every support session generates a detailed audit trail. And you’ll eliminate the risk of passing data through a third party. Plus, you’ll eliminate the monthly fees of software-as-a-service, lowering your total cost over time.

Appliance-Based Security. No Monthly Fees.

Bomgar’s approach to remote support is an ownership model. Customers buy Bomgar once, then get support and upgrades for a 20% yearly maintenance fee. Compared to the ongoing monthly fees required by Software as a Service solutions, Bomgar’s ownership model costs significantly less.

Also, most customers feel more comfortable securing and integrating an appliance they own, sitting behind their firewall than a system owned by a vendor, hosted in yet another unknown party's datacenter.

Bomgar vs. SaaS

This graph compares the total cost of Bomgar (hardware, software, maintenance) to the top three software-as-a-service competitors over seven years.

The graph assumes a 50% concurrency for Bomgar licenses - 5 Bomgar licenses for 10 technicians - and named seats for competitors. All pricing based on list price as of January 2013.

How It Works

How Does the Bomgar Appliance Work?

Firewalls are designed to block incoming traffic. That is why traditional remote access tools (RDP, VNC, pcAnywhere, Dameware and others) require firewall configuration changes in order to work over the internet. Bomgar does not require changes to your firewall because both the customer and the support rep connect to the appliance through outbound connections.

With Bomgar, your support reps can connect to and support remote desktops, servers, laptops and network devices. Support reps can see the screen, control the mouse and work as if physically in front of the remote desktop, speeding time to resolution. Bomgar can even let you gain remote control of computers not connected to the internet.

Support reps can use Bomgar to support remote iPad, iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices. And Bomgar lets technicians control remote desktops from their iPad, iPhone or Android tablet.

Bomgar logs and records every session, passing no data through a 3rd party. All session data is guarded by SSL encryption. And Bomgar resides in your network, under the security measures you already have in place. After most support sessions Bomgar uninstalls, leaving no footprint on the remote desktop.
