View the Password and Key History for Credentials in Bomgar Vault

The password or key history for a credential allows you to see the date and time a credential was used or rotated. From the Password History or Key History window, you can also perform certain actions such as hovering your mouse over the Password or Passphrase column to see what passwords were used, to copy the password to your clipboard for use, and to view the date and time a password was used for auditing purposes.

View the Password History for Credentials

  1. Go to Credentials > Credentials.
  2.  

    The History icon located on the Credentials page.

  3. From the Credential grid, locate the credential you wish to see the history for and click the History icon.
  4.

  5. On the Password History window, you can review the following information:
    • Credential: The friendly name of the credential.
    • Type: The credential type, such as Active Directory or Linux.
    • History Length: The number of days the history goes back in time. Password history storage can be modified under Administration > Settings > General. Please see General Settings in Vault .
    • Date: The date and time the password was used or changed.
    • Password: The password used or changed. You can hover your mouse over the Lock and Eye icons to see the password in plain text.
    • Copy: Copy the password to your clipboard.
  6. When finished, click Close.

View the Key History for SSH-based Credentials

  1. Go to Credentials > Credentials.

  3. From the Credential grid, locate the credential you wish to see the history for and click the History icon.

  5. On the Key History window, you can review the following information:
    • Credential: The friendly name of the credential.
    • Type: The credential type, such as Active Directory or Linux.
    • History Length: The number of days the history goes back in time. Key history storage can be modified under Administration > Settings > General. Please see General Settings in Vault .
    • Date: The date and time the key and passphrase were used or changed.
    • Passphrase: The passphrase used or changed. You can hover your mouse over the Lock and Eye icons to see the passphrase in plain text.
    • Copy: Copy the passphrase to your clipboard.
    • Private Key: Download the private key.
  6. When finished, click Close.
