Create and Import Endpoints into Bomgar Vault

Note: If you are a Vault Go! customer, this section does not apply.

Note: If you are a Vault Go! user, you do not need to configure endpoints in your instance.

An endpoint is any device, computer, server, or service that is accessed using credentials stored in Bomgar Vault. The Endpoints section allows you to view and manage all endpoints configured in Bomgar Vault, and includes a search function for quick access to individual endpoints.

  1. Go to Endpoints > Endpoints.
  2. Endpoints > New Endpoint

  3. Click on New Endpoint.

  1. Enter a Name for the endpoint.
  • Note: If you are adding endpoints to use with the Bomgar Privileged Access or Bomgar Remote Support integration, the endpoint name must be the same in both systems. The
    1. Type a brief Description of the endpoint.
    2. Select the Endpoint Type. Review the list below to see the endpoint types and additional configuration options.
    • Cisco
      • Hostname/IP (required): IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.

    Note: Networks can be configured in Bomgar Vault at Settings > Networks.

    • Linux
      • Hostname/IP (required): IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.
    • Mac
      • Hostname/IP (required) IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
    • MySql
      • Hostname/IP (required) IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.
      • Host (required): The name of the host where the endpoint is running.
    • Oracle
      • Hostnamd/IP (required) IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.
      • Service (required): The name of the database.
      • Service type (required): Select SID or Service_Name.
    • SQL Server
      • Hostname/IP (required) IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.
      • Instance: The SQL Server instance name used for the database.
    • Telnet - Linux
      • Hostname/IP (required): IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.
    • Telnet - Windows
      • Hostname/IP (required): IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • Port (required): The port needed to allow communication between the endpoint and Bomgar Vault.
    • Web
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
      • URL Hostname (required): The website address for the web-based endpoint.
    • Windows Local
      • Hostname/IP (required) IP address or Hostname for the endpoint.
      • Network: The network in which the endpoint resides.
    1. If you wish to assign the endpoint to an endpoint group, select the endpoint group from the Unassigned section.
    2. Click the > arrow to assign the endpoint to the endpoint group.
    3. Click the Credentials tab.

    Endpoints > Add Endpoint > Credentials

    1. If you wish to associate specific credentials with the endpoint, enter the name of the existing credential within the Vault application.
    2. Select the purpose of the credential, Rotation or Integration.
    3. Click Add.
    4. When you are finished adding all of your endpoints and credentials to the group, click Accept

    Note: To edit, view, or delete endpoint groups, return to the Endpoints home screen.

    Upload Muliple Endpoints

    1. To add multiple credentials simultaneously, go to Endpoints > Endpoints.

     

    Bulk Insert Button

    1. Click the Bulk Insert button.

    Endpoints > Bulk Insert

    1. Click the Download Sample CSV button.
      • CSVs are the method of choice for uploading multiple endpoints in Bomgar Vault. The sample CSV outlines exactly what information should be included and the format it should follow.
    2. Review the sample CSV.
    3. Click the What Fields Can I Import button.
      • This section outlines the exact fields you can include in your CSV and a description of what information must be provided in the fields.
    4. Outside of Bomgar Vault, open a new CSV file.
    5. Enter your endpoint information into the CSV.
    6. Save the file to your computer.
    7. From Bomgar Vault, click the Upload File button.
    8. Browse to your saved CSV file and select it.
    9. Click Open.
    10. Click the Validate File button.
      • For validation, Vault runs a check to verify that all information on the CSV was entered correctly. If any information is not properly formatted, an error message appears listing the errors. Correct the errors listed and re-save the CSV file and click the Validate File button.
    11. Once validated, click the Import Endpoints button.
    12. When import is complete, click the Close button.
