Configure the Syslog Server and Vault Database

For auditing and reporting purposes, you can configure Bomgar Vault to write events and messages to a syslog server, and you can also configure how long the same information is stored in the Vault database.

Configure Syslog and Set Parameters for the Vault Database

  1. Go to Administration > Settings > Audit > Syslog Server.

  3. In the Hostname/IP field, enter the Hostname or IP address for your already configured syslog server.
  4. Next, enter the Port number needed to connect the application to the syslog server.
  5. The Event Traces section allowing you to set the days for the Vault database to store various information.

  6. In the Event traces section, set the parameters for how long the Vault database maintains the following event information:
    • Credential activity
    • Enter the number of days the Vault database should maintain all credential activity for the application.

    • E-mail activity
    • Enter the number of days the Vault database should maintain all email activity for the application.

    • Endpoint activity
    • Enter the number of days the Vault database should maintain all endpoint activity for the application.

    • Endpoint Group activity
    • Enter the number of days the Vault database should maintain all endpoint group activity for the application.

    • Security audit
    • Enter the number of days the Vault database should maintain all security audit reports for the application.

    • System events
    • Enter the number of days the Vault database should maintain all system events for the application.

  7. Once the syslog server information has been entered and all parameters have been set, click Accept.
