Bomgar™ 9.1 Release:

The Next Revolution in Remote Support

Nathan McNeill, VP of Product Management, Bomgar:
So if you have a client base of several hundred or several thousand, you don't have to maintain a software client or remote control client on each and every PC that you want to support. So with 9.1 I wanted to give you a little bit of background on 9.1 - it is a major Bomgar™ release and it's got a lot of new features which we'll be talking about today. 9.0 which was released in May of this year was primarily an architectural release. We changed a lot of the back-end systems, a lot of the protocols.

But some of those changes did not - are not immediately apparent when using the product. It didn't have a lot of new features, just a lot of changes on the back-end systems. But in reconstructing the application we've allowed for some of the features that we'll talk about today. 9.1 is going to be a clean, stable, easy-to-use platform and then a lot of new stuff that the architectural changes have made possible. Some of those changes include support for the Mac OS X operating system. We have session recording now so it's a complete video file of each session.

Bomgar™ 9.1 will allow you to integrate with your LDAP. We've included an API which allows you to read access to the database in the appliance. We have enhanced customizations which I'm going to walk through in detail in a second and then the overall performance and usability of the product has been improved as well. So without further ado let me walk through some of these features.

We included support for Mac OS X Tiger, that's Mac OS X 10.4. We've looked at including 10.3 and subsequent releases - that will be showing up in a little while but currently its 10.4, the most prevalent Mac platform. So it really expands the number and type of computers you can support using the same application. The big news here is really that it doesn't act any differently than when you're supporting a Windows PC. The experience is the same for the rep, the experience is the same for the customer. There's no additional hoops that you have to jump through.
