Configuring Appliance Failover

Introduction

PDF PDF Version (0.9MB)   Email Email This Item

Bomgar™ offers site-level data synchronization to help you prepare for potential failover situations, simplifying the process of failing over from one Bomgar Box to another. This document describes how to utilize a second Bomgar Box as a backup and failover device for one or more Bomgar sites and how to switch operation to the backup appliance in a disaster recovery situation. Three common network setups are demonstrated, though there are potentially many other viable configurations possible with the use of various networking configurations and equipment.

Backup Bomgar Box Disk Usage

The Bomgar Box allocates disk space for saving session logs, recordings, etc. When using a Bomgar Box as a backup appliance, the backup Bomgar Box will allocate the available disk space equally among each site backed up on that appliance. Consequently, a Bomgar Box used to store backups for multiple sites may have less disk space available for each individual site's logs and recordings.

Because support session, presentation, and team activity logs are relatively small, all of this data should be backed up in its entirety. If the total space allocated to a site on the backup appliance is not sufficient for that site's session recording data, this data will be truncated when saved to the backup appliance. In this case, the oldest session recording data would be purged from memory in order to make space for the newest data.
