Bomgar Enhances Security Features with Latest Release
Summary: Executives to highlight secure technical support options at upcoming events
April 30, 2007RIDGELAND, Miss., April 30, 2007 - Bomgar Corporation (formerly NetworkStreaming), the only provider of appliance-based remote support technology, today announced support for multifactor authentication with the release of BomgarTM 9.3, the latest version of its software. By adding an extra layer of security, Bomgar's customers can assure users that their tech support is being provided by a trusted source.
According to a recent Gartner report, the number of regulatory requirements directly affecting IT operations will double by 2012. These numbers demonstrate the criticality of ensuring data integrity and user trust - particularly with activities like tech support that give IT professionals access to user data and sensitive application information.
Bomgar's latest release furthers its commitment to securing remote support by adding new features to its existing security measures such as SSL encryption, appliance-based delivery and user initiated sessions. With 9.3, BomgarTM is introducing a number of new capabilities and assessments that will help customers in maintaining data integrity and ensuring appropriate use in remote support sessions. These include:
- Multifactor Authentication: With 9.3, BomgarTM is strengthening access security by requiring multiple methods of authentication to ensure the right person is using the application. Specifically, support for RADIUS servers will enable administrators to integrate with RSA SecurID and other authentication mechanisms.
- Enhanced LDAP: BomgarTM 9.3 also adds support for a range of LDAP implementations other than Active Directory, allowing customers to comply with corporate or industry mandates regarding application access.
- Secure Deployment: BomgarTM recently engaged with Symantec to develop a best practices guide for implementing the Bomgar BoxTM, to ensure customer security from the initial setup.
"Our top priority since the very beginning has been to provide secure technical support technology at every level of the transaction," said Joel Bomgar, founder and CEO of Bomgar Corporation. "From an organizational level, this includes selling our software in an appliance that prevents organizational data from being routed through a third party. From an end user perspective, this includes features such as the ability to stop a session at any time. With the addition of these new elements, we've hardened security at other major points in between."
To educate the market on the growing need for secure remote support, Joel Bomgar is scheduled to present at the upcoming HDI annual conference taking place April 30 - May 3 in Las Vegas. For more information, or to register to attend the conference, please visit: http://www.thinkhdi.com/hdi2007.
