Remote Support Webcast Allays Mobilization Security Concerns

Date: 09/27/06
Summary: Resolving the issue of security vs. mobility in remote support.

Ridgeland, MS (PRWEB) September 27, 2006 – Researchers have consistently found that security concerns are a major barrier to the mobilization of the corporate workforce, and providing technical support that ensures data security is a major issue. A new webcast from NetworkStreaming, the only remote support solution provider in the industry offering an appliance-based solution, addresses this issue.

A 2006 survey published by Tech Republic, conducted on 370 IT and business professionals from a cross-section of industries, revealed that, although 63 percent of those surveyed agreed that mobilizing the workforce with full access to business applications was critical to maintaining their competitive edge, only 18 percent have done so. The biggest challenges to implementation included security and compliance concerns, and the ongoing cost of technical support.

Another survey, conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit and sponsored by Symantec, had similar findings. Security concerns were the chief obstacle to companies mobilizing their workforce, and nearly 80 percent of respondents had already suffered financial loss due to disclosure of corporate data through a mobile network.

NetworkStreaming has long recognized this concern and addresses the issue in the webcast, Two Waves of Support: Balancing security and compliance with mobility and connectivity.

"In today's fast-paced world, security and connectivity often collide, yet both are essential for effective business operation. Recent changes and trends in the support industry have created tension between these two major issues," said Nathan McNeill, NetworkStreaming co-founder and VP of Product Management. "The goal of this webcast is to demonstrate how security and mobility can co-exist."

Making business applications available to the remote workforce is an IT challenge. This webcast answers vital questions regarding the ability to deliver remote support to mobile and remote workers while ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data.

SupportDesk, NetworkStreaming's appliance-based remote support solution satisfies security and compliance concerns. It arrives at your location as a secure device, and then resides at your facility under your already-established security measures. The administrator has granular control of the privileges allowed each remote support rep. As all traffic is 256 SSL AES encrypted and heavily compressed, the entire datastream is secure. No customer data is being routed through a third party, and no elements of the application which might open either end to a security breach is left in place after the session is complete. Support can be given to any PC anywhere in about 10 seconds, without the need to open any ports other than those already open to connect to the internet or network and already protected by the company's established security measures. This secure architecture significantly reduces the risk of remote support of workers outside corporate facilities.
