Remote Access Software Helps Meet Mobility Demands

Summary: Bomgar’s remote control software supports mobility initiatives while reducing technical support costs, regardless of the number of licenses required.

Demand for more flexibility and mobility from the workforce and an increased need for faster business response times will drive the percentage of the U.S. mobile workforce to 75% by 2011, according to a new IDC study. However, the cost and complexity of IT support for a mobile workforce is sometimes prohibitive. Bomgar's unique appliance-based remote access software offers both SMBs and large enterprises a cost effective solution to gaining and maintaining the competitive edge afforded by mobility.

According to the IDC study, Worldwide Mobile Worker 2007-2011 Forecast and Analysis, a higher comfort level with remote access technologies, mobile devices, and technology in general, along with the proliferation of high speed networks, Wi-Fi hotspots, and fixed-mobile convergence technology allows workers to be productive from almost any location.

However, remote support of these workers will place additional strain on already tight IT budgets. According to the Gartner EXP CIO report, Making the Difference: The 2008 CIO Agenda, IT budgets are expected to increase by an average of 3.3 percent in 2008, only a slight increase over 2007, and CIOs are increasingly expected to make a difference with that money with innovative technologies and solutions.

IDC's predictions make implementing mobility strategies with minimal expense a high priority for every CIO, and remote access software solutions that support mobility initiatives should be part of the strategy.

A comparative cost analysis of Bomgar's remote access software solutions revealed that IT execs may be able to support an increasing number of mobile workers within the current budget, and may even be able to lower existing costs while increasing service and support capabilities - leaving more room in the budget for CIOs to meet the demand for the innovation currently expected of IT.

Per the cost analysis, the total cost of ownership of Bomgar's remote access software is significantly lower than that of competitors regardless of the number of licenses required.

According to the IDC, "Organizations deploying mobile solutions enjoy a strategic competitive advantage over their competitors who have not invested in integrating mobility into their cultural roadmap."
