Cross-Platform Support – a Growing Need
Linux has a strong foothold in the server market and an increasing number of enterprise companies and government institutions standardizing on it. If the bread and butter for your company or team is tech support, then you owe it to yourself to try Bomgar™ – simple virtual support across multiple platforms.
Support for Multiple Linux Distros
Bomgar™ helps you ensure that all of your clients who are using SUSE, Ubuntu, RedHat, and Fedora are not left out in the cold when it comes to support. And the Bomgar™ representative client now enables support reps running SUSE Enterprise Desktop to gain control of any Linux, PC, Mac, or Pocket PC system anywhere in the world.
Bomgar™ currently enables support for these Linux distros: SUSE, Redhat, Fedora and Ubuntu. The supporting desktop can run Windows 2000-Vista or SUSE Enterprise Desktop Linux.
How Bomgar's Help Desk Support Software Works
How does Bomgar™ let you control Windows, Mac, Mobile and Linux systems virtually? All the magic is in the Bomgar Box™. Although firewalls block incoming traffic, they do allow outbound traffic. Bomgar™ enables secure Linux remote control when both the support rep and the end-user send outbound traffic to the Bomgar Box™. This means you can gain control of any Windows, Mac, Linux, or Windows Mobile system world-wide.

Support for Attended and Unattended Systems
Although connecting to Windows and non-Windows systems works slightly differently, Bomgar™ enables you to provide support for both attended and unattended machines running Windows, Windows Mobile, Mac, or Linux. Support reps can run Windows 2000-Vista or SUSE Enterprise Desktop Linux.
1. Support Within Your Network
Support for Attended Systems Employees can initiate a session with your help desk via your online support portal for issues that require immediate attention.
Support for Unattended PCs For scheduled troubleshooting, a support rep with administrative privileges can push a support session to a Windows system within the LAN with Bomgar's Jump™ functionality.
2. Support Within an Outside Network
Support for Attended Systems To start a session through firewalls, both the support rep and the client connect to the Bomgar Box™ outbound through firewalls, eliminating the need for firewall configuration.
Support for Unattended PCs Installing a Jumpoint™ on a device within the separate network enables you to push a virtual support session to any unattended Windows system within the network (requires administrative privileges on the network).
3. Support for Windows Mobile
To receive virtual support for a Windows Mobile device, a client can go to your online support portal and start a session just like a normal Windows computer.
4. Support Outside of the Network
Support for Attended Systems Clients can connect to you from anywhere in the world with any web browser via the Bomgar™ support portal.
Support for Unattended Systems Install a Jump™ client on a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine for anytime control. Jump™ clients can be installed via standard support session or can be mass-deployed via email for the end-user to install. |
